Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using HorseBook ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. "We," "our," and "us" refer to HorseBook. "You" refers to the individual or entity using the Service.

Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's consent.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without our written consent

Subscriptions & Billing

Free Trial

New accounts include a 14-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card is required to start the trial. At the end of the trial, you will need an active subscription to continue using the Service.

Subscription Plans

HorseBook offers the following subscription plans:

  • Monthly — $9.99 per month, billed monthly
  • Annual — $99.99 per year, billed annually (save ~17%)

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the billing settings in your account.

Refunds

Payments are processed through Stripe. If you cancel during a billing period, you will retain access until the end of the current paid period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods, but you may contact us at support@horsebook.app for refund requests within 7 days of a charge.

AI Features Disclaimer

HorseBook offers AI-powered document analysis using third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude). While we strive for accuracy, AI extraction results are provided on an "as-is" basis. You should always review and verify AI-extracted data before relying on it.

AI features are subject to usage limits based on your subscription tier. We are not responsible for errors in AI-extracted data, including incorrect horse names, dates, medical information, or other details. AI features may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of all data you enter into HorseBook, including horse records, medical information, documents, and contacts. We do not claim ownership of your content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license ends when you delete your account.

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by HorseBook and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works based on the Service without our written permission.

Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HORSEBASE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

HorseBook Is Not Veterinary Advice

HorseBook is a record-keeping tool, not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Nothing in the Service constitutes veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified veterinarian for health decisions concerning your horses.

Termination & Data Retention

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@horsebook.app. Upon termination, your subscription will be canceled and your data will be deleted within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. In the event of termination for cause, no refund will be provided for the current billing period.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
