Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using HorseBook ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. "We," "our," and "us" refer to Bickell Ranch LLC, doing business as HorseBook. "You" refers to the individual or entity using the Service.

Service Description

HorseBook is a horse management platform that provides record-keeping, document scanning, AI-powered data extraction, medical tracking, reproduction management, and expense tracking for horse owners, breeders, and barn managers. The Service is available via a web dashboard and native iOS application. The Service also includes optional, editable document templates (such as breeding contract templates) — see "Document Templates & Contracts" below.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian's consent.

Subscriptions & Billing

HorseBook offers a free tier with limited features and paid subscription plans with additional capabilities. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. Prices are listed on our pricing page.

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account billing settings. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of the current paid period.

Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of all data you enter into HorseBook, including horse records, medical information, documents, photos, and contacts. We do not claim ownership of your content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license ends when you delete your account.

AI Features Disclaimer

HorseBook offers AI-powered document analysis using Anthropic's Claude API. AI extraction results are provided as a convenience tool and should always be reviewed and verified by you before relying on them. AI features are not a substitute for professional advice of any kind.

We are not responsible for errors in AI-extracted data, including incorrect horse names, dates, medical information, or financial amounts. AI features are subject to usage limits based on your subscription tier and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

Not Veterinary Advice

HorseBook is a record-keeping tool, not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Nothing in the Service constitutes veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified veterinarian for health decisions concerning your horses.

Document Templates & Contracts

HorseBook is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Document templates offered in the Service (including breeding contract templates) are general-purpose starting points that you select, complete, and edit yourself. They are not a substitute for the advice or services of an attorney licensed in your state, and your use of them creates no attorney-client relationship with us. Laws vary by state; have an attorney review any document before you rely on it.

You are solely responsible for the contents of any document you create, edit, send, or sign using the Service. HorseBook is not a party to any agreement formed between you and any third party, and does not review, approve, or enforce such agreements. Where the Service records an electronic acceptance of a document, it does so as a neutral record-keeper for the parties.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
  • Use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without our written consent

Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HORSEBOOK SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or limitations of liability, so portions of this section may not apply to you. If you are a North Carolina consumer, nothing in this section disclaims any warranty or limits your recovery of damages in connection with the Service's document-template features.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@horsebook.app. Upon termination, your subscription will be canceled and your data will be deleted within 30 days.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. In the event of termination for cause, no refund will be provided for the current billing period.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oklahoma. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. If you are a North Carolina consumer, this section does not require you to arbitrate, or to bring or defend a claim outside North Carolina, with respect to the Service's document-template features.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
